Sen. Rick Horner (R-Wilson) responded Tuesday to the announcement that Chinese tire manufacturing company Triangle Global Group has chosen rural, eastern North Carolina for its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility, a project expected to yield nearly $580 million in new investment and 800 new jobs in the region he represents.
The announcement comes as North Carolina is scoring high in a slew of recent national rankings for business and economic outlook, including #1 best state for business by Forbes magazine, #1 most competitive state by Site Selection magazine and most improved state business tax climate by the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.
“Today’s announcement is a terrific Christmas present for our state, and particularly for eastern North Carolina,” said Horner. “I couldn’t be happier that more families in the rural communities I represent will be getting back to work, in part because of our years-long commitment to reducing taxes, improving our regulatory environment and creating a business climate that encourages the private sector to create jobs.
